Getting ready for the big day! 04.14.10

The Wedding Day:
The morning of the storm clouds were on the horizon… But nothing would put a damper on the fun for this wedding party as a crew of stylists from Paula Mayer Studios arrived to do hair and make up for the 10 bridesmaids, the bride and her mother Anseth. The Champagne and laughter were overflowing! Both True Photography team and Eagle Lion Video team were onsite to capture the transformations and document all the preparation details. Two ten-passenger vintage Rolls Royce Limousines from Rolls Livery arrived to transport the girls to the church. Anseth thought ahead and brought along some large golf umbrellas she keeps in her studio for just such rainy occasions to protect the dress and all the beautiful hair dos from the spring showers. At the church the bride stepped into her Amsale designer gown from Chez Bride Moderne. To complete her wedding look, as a proud and overjoyed mother of the bride – Anseth, placed the family heirloom vintage Brussels lace veil on her beaming daughter. Followed by a family gold coin taped into Sienna’s wedding shoe for luck… another long time family tradition. Then her stylist, Paula worked her magic with final touch ups to hair and make up… a fabulous treat to have your beauty stylist there for a final once over before the big walk down the aisle!

The Ceremony:
In the Church preparations were well under way too! Chris of Indulge Flowers embellished the churches beautiful candelabras with gorgeous cascading accents of roses, tulips and hydrangeas. Caprice Strings was there to provide exquisite music as guests arrived and throughout the ceremony. The officiant was Pastor Michael Spitters who performed a wonderful ceremony with touching moments like a rose exchange as a first marriage gift.
Even Mother Nature joined the team and was kind enough to halt the rain before the ceremony so pictures could be taken of the wedding party. She even gave her blessing to the wedding by providing an inspiring full arch brilliant rainbow over the church!

The Reception:
As guests arrived at the reception, cocktails and appetizers were being served while our Jazz band from NRG Entertainment entertained the guests. Once wedding photos were complete, the wedding party was transported to the La Jolla Country Club in a luxury limo bus from NStyle Limousine. They entered the cocktail reception with formal MC introductions. Mr. & Mrs. Feerrar where announced into a room filled with applause and cheers, as they moved right into their atypical first dance. The first dance, one of Sienna’s favorite, was to the Rolling Stones “Beast of Burden” a song she grew up listening to… as it was played often by her father Keith Richards, a big Stones fan!
The couple then led the way into an additional room where the dinner reception was held. This room had been purposely hidden from any guest or bridal party as to ensure a surprise primed for the bride and groom that would be revealed as the white-gloved waiters dramatically opened the grand doors and the room was unveiled to a beaming Sienna and Todd entering and grasping the first view of the elegant ambiance prepared just for them, which absolutely caused them both to stop dead in their tracks and automatically filled their faces with joy and smiles from ear to ear with all their guests surrounding them closely behind.

The design team definitely outdid themselves… Twinkling Crystal Candelabras, created by Chris of Indulge Flowers, that were accented with breathtaking French tulips, roses and hydrangeas in soft creams and whites. Espresso brown linen overlays from Wildflower Linen with a lovely embroidered swirl pattern where used to perfectly matched the accent detail Sienna used throughout the entire wedding theme. This vintage swirl pattern was used in everything from the invitations, to the menus and place cards… all done by Jennifer of Simply Posh Designs. The vintage swirl pattern was inspired by the heirloom style setting of her incredibly amazing engagement ring!

A romantic glow spread over the room from the new married couple, so much in love, to the real candles used in the candelabras, to the dramatic warm amber up-lighting color washes spread throughout the room courtesy of Mike Hogan of Entertainment At Large. Mike Hogan also was the terrific master of ceremony during the dinner part of the reception.
Although for this dinner reception, not a lot of music was needed. This microphone-wielding group had plenty of other dinner entertainment planned! Knowing that the bride Sienna, who is a host on 949 radio’s Mikey Show in the mornings, is a big show off and loves being the center of attention, she must have felt right at home as different important people in her life took turns regaling the crowd throughout dinner with stories and entertaining acts. Her mother and father lead off by welcoming everyone. Then her sisters Avalon and Waverly, both maids of honor cleverly presented their toast with props and humor of Sienna’s life highlights complete with her happiness in meeting Todd. Todd’s brother and best man Craig shared Todd’s stories too. Then Bridesmaid’s Radio team stepped in with a fully scripted skit that was hysterically funny and brilliantly clever, complete with Radio Sponsor Brakes and Commercials! But the tears from laughter quickly turned to heart tugs as Emily, a Broadway actress, bridesmaid and long time friend from New York both concluded the radio session and brought down the house by singing a beautiful rendition of “At Last.”

At Last…. Hardly! Because after that song the party really swung into full gear! Guests were invited back into the cocktail area to watch Sienna and her father enjoy the traditional father daughter dance. But this was hardly traditional.

As Sienna and her father took to the dance floor the guests were gathering around into a room completely transformed.

Where the escort cards had been, now a magnificent cake created by Michele Coulon Dessertier, stood below hanging orchids strewn from the overhead candelabra. Where the Jazz band had been a fantastic seven piece rock band from NRG Entertainment was rocking to the most unusual song choice of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by of course what else… The Rolling Stones! Surrounding the room brilliant blue LED lighting gave a new Hip and Edgy look to this rocking after party.
The tables had been redone, new beautiful blue linen overlays provide by Laura of Tavola Linens and Events. Mike Hogan was also busy cooking up his fabulous Party Donuts much to the delight of all the guests. Brock from EuroBar Espresso was there too, making sure fabulous coffees kept this party moving and all the guests dancing till the wee hours!
Cheryl of the Sweet Studio provided incredible cookie favors in a creative station where guests could help themselves to their favorite cookie cars. Anseth took some liberty with her daughter’s new name… Sienna Atin Feerrar for the favors. Guest had the choice of Gold Sienna Mini Vans, Espresso Brown Astin Martin’s or Bright Blue Feerrari’s!

Including your children in your wedding ceremony… 04.02.10

I would like to have a special part of my ceremony to include my 12-year-old son and my “new” daughters- ages ranging from (21-32). Any ideas? This is of course both of our second marriages.

I would absolutely include your children as much as possible. Your son could either “give you away” or he could be your ring bearer. Your new daughters could be your bridesmaids. All of them could be part of a special family ceremony joining all of you together. In this type of ceremony each of them would get a ring, too. They could give a reading during the ceremony or they could give a toast at the reception. Let them help cut the cake. In fact, they could help pick out the cake and each one have their own layer! Be creative and find as many ways to make them feel a big part of this very special time.

Good Luck
